 2007 Brings Ongoing Development For The Western North Carolina Jazz Society
We are pleased to announce the new appointment of Harriet Feldman as Executive Director of the WNC Jazz Society. Harriet is delighted to help spread the joy of jazz throughout our WNC region. Originally from New Orleans, she managed the renowned Snug Harbor Jazz Bistro for over twelve years, which further developed her tremendous appreciation for jazz musicians and the timeless music they create. During Hurricane Katrina, she evacuated to Asheville where she discovered the WNC Jazz Society. Knowing first-hand so many musicians, she was thrilled to find high caliber jazz being presented in Asheville.
Under Feldman's directorship, the WNC Jazz Society is initiating a pilot program of Wynton Marsalis' "Jazz For Young People" in the regional school system. Jazz Series performances are open to the general public.
Tickets will be $20 members; $28 non-members; $10 students w/ID.
Memberships will be for sale at all performances. Jazz Series 2007 performances will be held on Sundays at 7:00 p.m. at the Diana Wortham Theatre. We look forward to sharing our 2007 season of jazz music in Western North Carolina with you!
Please note that much to the dismay of the WNC Jazz Society it has become necessary to raise the ticket price of our performances. Along with our sincere efforts to bring world class professional jazz performances to Asheville, comes the rising cost of transportation and performance fees.
